Fellowship Overview

The KF Scholarship accepts applications from all countries/regions excluding North America, Europe, and Japan.

The program aims to encourage advanced research and academic engagement with Korean studies across a diverse range of disciplines and regions. Applicants must be enrolled or about to enroll as full-time M.A. students or Ph.D. candidates at a university located in any country or region other than North America, Europe, and Japan.

Eligible fields of study include the humanities, social sciences, arts and cultural studies, media and communications, contemporary Korean studies, and other relevant research areas with a Korea-related topic. Applicants must hold citizenship or permanent residency in a country or region outside of Korea; Korean nationals must have obtained such status as of August 2026. Students enrolled in professional graduate schools (such as MBA, law, or interpretation/translation schools) or those who already hold a Ph.D. are not eligible.

Graduate Studies Scholarship support is provided, with the amount varying depending on the applicant's country or region. Applicants must submit a study or research proposal using the designated online form, along with three reference letters: one from their thesis/dissertation supervisor, one from a professor qualified to assess the research proposal, and one from a professor or lecturer able to assess Korean language competency.
